#36: Recreating Album Art: Local Natives

Hello friends!

Welcome back to the photoblog! But if you’re new here - big hugs & welcome in 🤗

Today I’ll be showcasing part 2 of Recreating Album Art ✌🏼 In part 1, I recreated The Marías album cover. This time will be Local Natives!

Scroll to the very bottom for the final image reveal! ✨

Heads up that phlogs will now be posted on a bi-weekly basis due to work and personal situations!

Now let’s get right into it 👁👄👁

I’ve been a huge fan of LN ever since their first album Gorilla Manor. They just released their brand new single ‘Just Before The Morning’ last week! Been loving it.

Part One: Band Mate Photos

This was super fun! Found outfits that matched the band mates as close as possible. Most of the ‘fits were my husband’s. Borrowed the brown jacket from a friend.

Some of the color shades didn’t quite match up, but no worries bc Photoshop helped fixed that. Photos above were edited in Lightroom. My husband, Milton, jumped in for a couple of pics too ☺️

Part Two: Tree Photos

At first I went to a nearby park to try to look for the perfect tree. Sadly it was closed due to Hurricane Ian that had just passed. When I got home, I realized I had my ideal tree standing right outside my house!

Part Three: Editing Time!

This part was nerve-wracking for me because honestly I wasn’t sure how this was all going to turn out! Above are the images I used to make this album cover recreation happen.

For the band mates photos (top), I removed the background behind me in Procreate.

For tree photo #1 (middle), that was the main image for the album cover.

And tree photo #2 (bottom), I used bits and pieces of the leaves for the final look. You’ll see all of this later!

Image 1: took tree photo #1 and enlarged it to fill up the entire space. Erased most of the sky that was peeking through using the spot healing brush and clone stamp tool. Also added in shadows to mimic LN’s album cover.

Image 2: placed the pictures of me into the project file

Image 3: used tree photo #1 and #2 to cover up the bottoms of me. So it looks like I’m standing in the tree!

Image 4: adjusted the color balance some more

Last step was adding in the text just like LN’s! Fonts I used were Impact and Arial.

Note: all photo manipulation was done in Photoshop!

And now for the final look!! ✨👀👇🏼

Here’s a side-by-side comparison!

And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed seeing the process of how I made this happen!

What’s up with these album cover recreations? Honestly I just love music and recreating artwork from some of my favorite music artists has been a fun challenge! Who do you want to see next?

Phlog Posting Update!
